Default Critique my build I'm doing something wrong I think.

Looking around this forum I found a ranger doing 100 damage to a 60 armor dummy outside of aisle of the nameless. Naturally he had his build black out save for punishing shot. I thought to myself, self you have a brain go figure this out. So far im still missing 100 damage. I was hoping perhaps someone would take pity at my stupidity and critique my build I use for fighting.
Thanks in advance.

Drop healing altogether. Pump everything into expertise and marksmanship. Congratulations, you have damage.

Or, alternatively, you could drop healing and buff Wilderness survival and bring Troll with some spirit or whatnot.

You do need to drop healing.

You don't need Barrage AND all those damage skills. I'd decide now whether you want to do Barrage or you want to run something else. If you are going for a straight damage build, than it would be prudent to have 16 in Marks.

Let us know which you are going with, and I'll have more advice. Barrage or other.

VoD == ?

Don't get to upset by some screenshot showing 100 damage, it happens, I've seen numbers 250+ in FoW - JI, hornbow, frenying undead you get the picture - but I don't count on seeing those on a regular basis - unless I go beastmaster.

Since you have both chapters, you could experiment with the duplicate high damage skills, like Penetrating/Sundering with Quick Shot in between them and Needling to finish off. Fav Winds and Read the Wind will add 15+ armor ignoring damage, vampstring is another 5.

Nothing in FoW has frenzy. Skeletal casters take those numbers easily with JI/Horn/Skeletonslaying/Penetrating Attack.

Try out that build too, its fun but yours is good tho, i'd use it for FoW maybe..

Ditch healing, Put it into smiting, and get Judges insight, which makes all damage you deal holy + 20% armor penetration, use a hornbow (native 10% penetration) with a 20/20 sundering or +15% dmg always bow. Always try to stay higher than your target, the higher you are, the farther you attack and the more damage you do.

Ah, well it's been almost a year that I was down there. But anyway, sometimes you get insane damage numbers, but don't get attach too much weight to them.

Edit: And firing down from a height also increases damage (and range).

Unless you have some other reason for bringing Wilderness Survival.... +9 in Troll is not worth the points you have to put in to get it. If you take Troll, just a few points in WS is more than enough.

^ When I run a damage build (not barrage) I usually run:

Two attack skills
Two interrupts
One Prep
Defensive skill
Utility Skill
Rez

Just alternate between the attack skills, and if you want to deliever a little 'mini spike' then just use attack skill + Savage shot in quick succesion. Don't use the spikes too often, as you should be saving them for interrupting, and it'll drain your energy pretty quickly.

Since you're a monk secondary a good utitily skill to bring is smite hex. It doesn't need much (if any) points to make it useful, and it'll help your team considerablly. Anothers to consider include: Dust trap, throw dirt, Snare, etc. And depending on the area and what your team composition is, the spirits can also be helpful. Definately bring Rebirth if you're planing on staying a /Mo as your rez.

You can bring also.
apply poison (what many rangers have)
kindle arrows (fore DMG)
and fire trap (is also a good )

they fall also under wilderness Survival.

What is this for if it for AB or any of the 2 Forts for all PvP use Cripshot Apply Poison other than I would drop healing and use troll urgent and drop barrage.I don't know why eveyone thinks this is a great skill as I often hear in mission outpost Barrage Ranger LFG.No Rebirth always a res signet for any PvP.

I also USED to be a huge fan of barrage in pve, but I changed my tune after I hit about 2.5million xp.
My current archery mode skillbar:
savage shot, marauders shot, dual shot, distracting shot, glass arrows(e), whirling defense, troll ungent, res(rebirth).
another fun setup for pressure, swap out marauders for quickshot and go read the wind instead of glass. but the spike of marauders is quite nice.
this is when running with a full party pve. farming builds tend to be tailored to specific foes.
